Jessie Strickland, Senior track and field athlete in the Class of 2020, is the first ever female javelin record holder in Rock Hill High School history. She established the record at the 2020 Y.C. Winborn Preseason Invitational Saturday, February 29, 2020. She won the event and set the school record with a mark of 48′ 08″. This was Jessie’s first year participating in track and in the javelin event. She was also among one of the first athletes in SC this season to compete in the javelin as it is considered an official event in the state in 2020. Although the season was abruptly, unexpectedly cut short, Jessie showed promise in the event and was projected to better the record setting mark several times throughout the season. Congratulations to Jessie and good luck in her future endeavors!
